BATTLE TENDENCY

In 1938, Joseph and Erina are asked to move to New York, and Angela is sent by Speedwagon to welcome them to the city on his behalf while he explores the ancient ruins in Mexico. Angela invites them along with Smokey for dinner, and tell them a bit about the Foundation's current projects.She's obviously flustered by Joseph's presence at first, who definitely doesn't mind the attention. During the dinner, Joseph beats up a guy that makes a very racist remark towards Smokey, and later they are approached by a mafia guy, that tells them it's being rumoured that Speedwagon was killed. Angela denies it, but the atmosphere grows gloomy, and she promises to ask the Foundation's directors about Speedwagon's whereabouts.Not having found anything yet, Angela hangs out with Joseph and Smokey, who quickly become friends. While having coffee, they are attacked by Straizo. After getting through the fight, Joseph asks Angela to stay in New York and humour Erina while he leaves to Mexico to save Speedwagon. Angela is truly happy to find out he's alive.When Speedwagon takes Joseph to Rome to meet Caesar Zeppeli, he asks Angela to tag along since her healing hamon could be useful. Joseph and Angela get along well, most of the time she laughs at his jokes and pranks, while also trying to get him to behave. Joseph is thrilled to have a friend his age for the first time, and isn't sure if he likes her or the attention. Not like he gives it much thought anyway, but having a girl's attention for the first time sure feels good and makes him feel warm.Both Joseph and Angela regard Caesar as a jerk the first time they meet, gossiping and whispering about him before they first encounter the pillarmen. Angela rushes to cure Caesar when he gets hurt fighting them for the first time, and for a moment feels really stupid when Joseph seems to be running away and leaving them behind. However, when they find him unconscious after being put the deadly rings on his throat and heart, she comes to realize he did that to keep them safe.After that, Joseph, Angela and Caesar leave off to train under Lisa Lisa, Loggins and Messina. Angela climbs the hell pillar alongside Joseph and Caesar and they spend the month at Air Supplena. During that month, she gets closer to them, and they spend the nights chatting until Lisa Lisa sushes them to go to sleep. Caesar is aware of Angela's feelings for Joseph because she's so painfully obvious, but doesn't ever bring it up with either of them. On the other hand, as that month passes by, Joseph occasionally flirts with Angela, but it's more out of habit or playful banter rather than genuine intention. Angela tries to convince herself that he doesn't really mean anything by it, not sure how to manage her own feelings yet.Angela only finds out about Joseph's fight with Eisidisi when he's back at the Island, when she finds him peeking at Lisa Lisa's door. She scolds him and they end up talking about the fight, with Joseph unaware that Eisidisi's brain is out there. Hearing them outside, Lisa Lisa quickly gets dressed and opens the door, accidentally giving Eisidisi's brain a way to Suzi Q, who was inside. Joseph quickly picks up on Suzi's weird behavior, and after fighting Eisidisi for the last time, they find out the red stone of Aja has been sent to Switzerland.Leaving Suzi Q to take care of Air Supplena, Joseph, Lisa Lisa, Caesar, Angela and Messina leave for Switzerland, finding the Germans along the way. While in the cabin, Joseph and Kars fight for the stone, with Kars finally retreating. The next day, as they are considering their next steps, Joseph's and Caesar's fight strikes. At first, just like Lisa Lisa, Angela thinks it's a good idea to attack during the day, but after hearing Joseph's reasoning, she agrees to wait until night. When Caesar explodes and hits Joseph, she helps Lisa Lisa separate them, while asking them to calm down. After Caesar insists on going to the mansion Kars and Wamuu are in, Angela offers to go with him, until Lisa Lisa asks Messina to do so instead.Ultimately, after hearing Caesar's life story from the lips of Lisa Lisa, the three of them decide to follow. As they get closer to the mansion, they notice that something isn't right, especially after finding Messina's arm laying on the snow. They enter the building, and after Joseph figures all of the destruction must've been caused by Wamuu's Divine Sandstorm, Angela anxiously glances around and even takes a few steps here and there, looking for Caesar, to heal him. Joseph then spots the blood bubble, coming to the conclusion that Caesar has died in battle. As he digs between the rubble, Angela helps, a bit in denial still, thinking to herself that if they find him alive, she can definitely help him.Lisa Lisa interrupts them, trying to focus on the battle ahead, reminding Joseph and Angela that they are in enemy territory. While Joseph and Lisa Lisa talk, Angela mostly stays silent, trying not to sob out loud, and that's when they realize that Caesar's body lays under the cross. The three end up grieving Caesar together for a little while before searching for Wamuu and Kars.After deciding that the final battle for the Red Stone of Aja will take place, Joseph and Angela are sent back to the Hotel to pick up the stone and get the wounded Messina to safety. Joseph carries Messina in silence. Angela tries to start a conversation a few times, asking if he's doing okay, but Joseph answers with little hums, or with silence, so she awkwardly quiets down as well. As they arrive to the hotel, Angela heals Messina's wounds using healing hamon, while Joseph retrieves the stone. Angela notices a change in his behaviour when he finds the old picture Lisa Lisa carries in her luggage. Both briefly discuss what this could mean, and Joseph decides to ask her. Sensing the atmosphere a bit more lightly, Angela asks Joseph again how he is doing. He's... holding up, mostly, although they only discuss what happened shortly.Joseph asks Angela to stay at the hotel with Messina, and at first she refuses, but Joseph ends up convincing her. They have a little moment in which Angela asks him to please be careful, and he promises to be back.While Joseph and Lisa Lisa fight Wamuu and Kars, Angela contacts Speedwagon for help, and it is when Speedwagon brings the Germans, Smokey and Angela to the arena, revealing to the latter two that Lisa Lisa is Joseph's mother. Smokey insists on telling him, while Angela tries to stop him. When Joseph steps down from the structure, he places Lisa Lisa in Speedwagon's arms and asks Angela to aid her asap. He asks her if she's the one who brought the help and thanks her, right before Kars turns into the ultimate being.Joseph ends up running away with the Stone of Aja after Kars conquers the sun. Smokey follows, and Angela almost follows Smokey, to try and stop him from telling him that Lisa Lisa is his mother. However, she hesitates and decides to stay behind to take care of her wounds.That's the last time Angela sees Joseph. After several hours, Stroheim comes back, announcing the passing of both Joseph and Kars.Although Angela wasn't planning on confessing or anything like that, it still breaks her heart good. A little more than a month and a half happens, while she does her best to cope with Caesar's and Joseph's deaths. Her and Smokey sometimes spend time together, trying to lift each other's spirits up.As they hold Joseph's funeral, Joseph crashes it, revealing that he is alive, that a fishing boat found him near the volcano and got him to safety. He states that by the time he was able to send a fax, he decided he might as well wait to recover and go check on them. The funeral attendants celebrate teary-eyed, while Smokey and Angela ugly sob like crazy.A few days later, Joseph and Angela meet alone and he gives her a half-assed apology for not telling them he was alive, and admits that he needed some time to think about... everything that had happened, and mourn Caesar alone. Angela gets mad, but quickly gets over it, unable to not feel happy he is safe and sound.Not too long after that, with a little push from Smokey (who knew about Angela's feelings since they came back to New York), Angela confesses to Joseph and they start dating. Around 1941 they get married and Angela gives birth to Holly Joestar in 1942.

STARDUST CRUSADERS

For the time Stardust Crusaders takes place, Joseph's stand has already manifested, and Angela knows about it, despite not being able to see it at all. Both head to Japan with Avdol when Jotaro seems to have manifested his own stand, and during the first days there, Holly falls sick.After coming to the conclusion that the only way to save Holly is to defeat Dio, Avdol, Kakyoin, Jotaro and Joseph leave to Egypt, leaving Angela and some Speedwagon Foundation's doctors to take care of her.Angela barely hears from the crusaders during their quest, until Joseph and Jotaro come back to Japan safely.

DIAMOND IS UNBREAKABLE

After finding out about Josuke's existence, Joseph and Angela's marriage goes through a very rough patch. Joseph decides to go to Morioh to both meet Josuke and help finding the city's threat he sensed with Hermit Purple, and Angela stubbornly insists on going as well, being still mad at Joseph. Reaaaally mad, actually.However, the moment she steps on the deck and sees Joseph and Josuke together, she gets really emotional and tears up a little bit. She has not forgiven Joseph yet, but seeing him with a son, a son that looks a bit too much like him when Joseph and Angela met, simply doesn't allow her to hold the grudge, at least momentarily.After the Achtung Baby arc, Joseph brings the baby he and Josuke found to the hotel, asking Angela to adopt her take care of her together. Eventually, Angela forgives Joseph, after a lot more of apologizing.

It's canon that Joseph is still alive in 2011 (Stone Ocean), but he outlives Angela, who dies from a heart disease in 2007.
